Hip-Hop Top 5: NorthWest Edition II
60
What you SHOULD be listening to today.
I only talk about the ignored corner of the nation because I love it and because it's true. Not that I'm complaining, it's a little different life, but I just believe that others would have to enjoy some of the music from here if they are hearing it. The dynamic of what can be seen and experienced at a live hip-hop show in Seattle is something that once witnessed, has to be treasured. Enjoy December 19th's Top 5 and thank you for listening!
Blue Scholars: Blink
It's hard for me to admit that I picked these guys up so late on in my life. They have to be right up there with Macklemore, on point painting a message to you brain. They know how to work the canvas and it's awesome to listen to. Note: this song was written for a brother in Iraq. My dearest thanks to our soldiers, serving to keep everyone in the US free. My brother is a MP in the Air Force right now, and I couldn't be more proud of anyone in the world.
Grynch ft. Sol: All I Wanna Do
Grynch was on the honorable mention list last week, and he is becoming more and more relevant in Seattle and the hip hop scene. He's a fresh new sound that compliments the powers that already be on the sound waves. I didn't love college, but all I wanna do now is party. Great listen.
Macklemore ft Fences: Otherside
Macklemore really brings his audience into his life with this song. He talks oxy and Seattle, a terrifying world that largly goes unseen. Out of site out of mind right? Not in Mack's world. This song isn't new at all, but I have to share what it means to me. I was also was a oxycodone addict for close to 5 years, and I'm 23 now. Had I not found music again, which I did in Macklemore, I doubt I'd be alive today. We share a similar story and a upbringing that really defines the Seattle area today. I'll be 2 years clean in March and I have to thank Macklemore and his music. I'll serve it to you live style, enjoy the ride.
Boom Bap Project: Paper Champions
The Boom Bap Project has been putting in work up and down the board and should be a namesake in any hip-hop heads library. These guys are preserving hip-hops history in they're lyrics.
Jake One, Prometheus Brown, Sol, and Preach: Dawgs In The House
Well if you know me at all, I'm not much for UW, but this song is sick. PB, Sol, and Preach can't be touched here, #passionate. Jake One's beats are legendary, and I can't hate a good listen. Hope you enjoy, Go WAZZU!!!
Honorable Mention- Jake One ft. Freeway and Brother Ali: The Truth
Jake One scores another spot because of Brother Ali's performance. Really worth the listen.

I'm so happy to see Jake One on the list! Twice! That Dawgs in the House song is great! The video is also super tight. I love seeing the UDub stadium. Great list (as always). Keep up the great work! I am going to send you my husbands beats soon. He's from SeaTown too and I think you'd like his beats. Great work, voted up, etc.
